House prices see biggest monthly rise in 14 years

houseHouse prices increased by 2.5% in January which made the biggest monthly upswing for 14 years, according to latest Land Registry figures. The average house price in England and Wales has risen by £4,732 over the month to £191,812. However experts warn that there are signs the market is slowing down.
Peter Rollings, chief executive of Marsh & Parsons, says: “House prices have made rapid growth already in 2016, which will be a pleasant call for homeowners who are considering selling in the spring market. First time buyers and buy to let investors are moving at a quick pace, and while they continue to outnumber the properties for sales, house price growth will continue. Meanwhile London remains with property values up 14% annually.”
